Hey, I'm Chey
and I'd love to be your doula! I'm a Certified Labor Doula with MaternityWise and I am working on furthering my credentials with them. I have years of experience in assisting birthing people during pregnancy, postpartum, and lactation journeys. My end goal is to become a midwife and open a center so that birthing people can have a village. I am a firm believer in mothering the mother and having a sense of community.
But who is Cheylah?
I was born in Southern Virginia and raised throughout the DMV area, where I developed a strong desire to assist others. With experience as a pharmacy technician and a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, my ultimate goal is to become a midwife and establish a collective with like-minded professionals who are dedicated to fostering a supportive community and "Mothering the Mother."
As a mother of four boys, three of whom required time in the NICU (two were micro preemies and one was full-term), I have gained valuable experience in caring for children with special needs, including those requiring oxygen, g-tubes, reflux management, and addressing developmental delays. My compassion and empathy enable me to understand and cater to the needs of my clients effectively.
In my leisure time, I enjoy a diverse range of music, photography, cosplay, homeschooling my boys, and research on topics related to maternal and infant health. My personality type is ENFJ-A.
Professionally, I am involved with THD Kollective as a doula and photographer and MaternityWise, where I serve as a mentor to new doulas, a doula trainer, study group coordinator, an assistant to the director, and the local affirmation giver. Additionally, I provide backup support for the Rare Doula as well community support. The name of the game is village and support for me.
